Los Angeles - Miley Cyrus has been warned to keep it clean when she performs on The X Factor.
The We Can't Stop hitmaker shocked viewers with her racy performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last month, and while producers are keen to capitalise on the publicity, they don't want her to be as "raunchy" on a family show.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "X Factor never miss an opportunity to exploit a situation, so the moment Miley put on that routine at the VMAs, producers put the wheels in motion to try to sign her up."
"But they can't have her doing anything so raunchy on a Sunday night. They want it to be edgy, but at the end of the day The X Factor is a family show and before the watershed."
Media mogul Simon Cowell will be hoping her performance doesn't match the criticism heaped on Britain's Got Talent after Jennifer Lopez's racy outfit caused controversy earlier this year.
The singer defended herself at the time, explaining she had worn the outfit at other events and it wasn't as bad as people claimed.
She previously said: "I think people are so much raunchier than I am. I feel like I'm so tame."
"We wore it at [the Billboard Awards] and Britain's Got Talent said they wanted exactly the same. So I thought I'd wear the outfit in black.
