The Miley Cyrus Wrecking Ball video has the world talking as the once tween pop star sheds that image once and for all.
Miley Cyrus gets rid of any perception that she was once a Disney star as the singer performs her latest hit “Wrecking Ball,” in a new and racy video that has many parents looking for the parental controls on their computers and televisions. Too bad the video has already been seen by over 18 million people since its upload to Youtube on September 9.
In the controversial video, Cyrus can be seen wearing practically nothing while stimulating herself with a sledgehammer. In another scene featured in the Wrecking Ball video, Miley Cyrus is seen nude riding the wrecking ball.
The video has many parents concerned as Cyrus still has a young following despite her recent attempts to shed her tween persona. Michael Hann, writer for The Guardian, wrote a blog on the new video and had this to say:
“What disturbs me about Wrecking Ball isn’t the fear that my daughter will look at the video and decide to learn about sex from garden implements. After all, one reason tween stars have to reinvent themselves is that the tweens themselves move on so quickly – part of the journey into adolescence consists of casting aside childhood love. I’m sure she’ll be curious, and look at the video, but I also suspect she’ll be embarrassed by Wrecking Ball, rather than inspired by it. That said, I’m probably not alone among parents in dreading the likely question: ‘Why has she done this?’”
It seems many people are asking why Ms. Cyrus seems to be oversexualizing herself these days. However, she may just be following the trend that 90′s pop stars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera set for her, as they too were once in the spotlight for doing the exact same thing.
